Product description

The Socket Pull-Up Curl Bar features the same 28.5MM cambered steel, extended knurling, and Black E-Coat finish as the Rogue Curl Bar. To adapt the design into a pull-up format, we essentially cut off the sleeves and added threaded holes to fix the bar to the provided mounting sockets, enabling easy installation on an existing rig or rack. This particular version is specifically built to fit a 43" space in a 3x3" Monster Series unit.

Rogue Socket Pull-Up Curl Bar - Monster

The Socket Pull-Up Curl Bar features the same 28.5MM cambered steel, extended knurling, and Black E-Coat finish as the Rogue Curl Bar. To adapt the design into a pull-up format, we essentially cut off the sleeves and added threaded holes to fix the bar to the provided mounting sockets, enabling easy installation on an existing rig or rack. This particular version is specifically built to fit a 43" space in a 3x3" Monster Series unit.

Designed and manufactured in Columbus, Ohio, the Socket Pull-Up Curl Bar ships standard with (2) MG Black mounting sockets and (4) bright zinc bolt assemblies measuring 1” x 4.75”. Socket mounting holes are 6” on center. The grip-friendly knurl pattern matches that of our flagship Ohio Bar, and it extends to the inside portion of the bar for athletes who want to perform close grip as well as wide grip pull-ups.

This pull-up bar is also available separately in a Infinity Series and Monster Lite version.

Cambered Knurled Barbell
1

Cambered Knurled Barbell

Compared to a traditional straight pull-up bar, a curved or cambered bar can provide a useful change-up for experienced, beginner, and rehabbing athletes, alike. This design helps reduce strain on the wrists during high-rep workouts, and with the knurling on the Socket Pull-Up Curl Bar extending to the inside portion of the bar, athletes can more easily work on their close grip pull-ups, as well. The non-abrasive knurl pattern itself is borrowed from our Ohio Bar—battle tested for years at the highest levels of competition.

E-Coat Finish
2

E-Coat Finish

The shaft of the Pull-Up Curl Bar is chrome plated and finished with a black “E-coat”—the first pull-up bar we’ve produced with this unique finish. E-coating is an electrically-applied paint coating initially developed for the automotive industry due to its superior coverage, adhesion, and corrosion resistance. E-coating creates a super even finish without dripping, pooling or gaps. It’s got cosmetic appeal, but is also consistently tough, uniform, and chip resistant.

Quality Rogue Construction

Quality Rogue Construction

The Monster Socket Pull-Up Curl Bar is precision-formed in the USA, using quality steel and state-of-the-art machinery at our Columbus, OH plant. The diameter of the bar is 28.5MM, and the total weight of the bar + sockets is 17LB. Every pull-up bar is carefully inspected and tested for quality before it leaves our factory floor.

Easy Installation in Monster Rack/Rig

Easy Installation in Monster Rack/Rig

This version of the Socket Pull-Up Curl Bar is compatible with any 43” space on an Rogue Monster Series rack or rig, and is equipped with a pair of durable mounting sockets to insure its stability after installation. Two button-head screws lock the bar into the sockets to prevent spinning (a 7/32” allen wrench is required to tighten), and all needed hardware is provided and finished in Bright Zinc.

Part of the Rogue Family

Part of the Rogue Family

Rogue has a wide variety of different pull-up bars to help a gym offer its athletes a more dynamic range of bodyweight training options. The Cerakote-finished Socket Pull-Up Bar is a close cousin of this one, with a straight rather than cambered shaft. Other popular Infinity-compatible options include the Crown Pull-Up Bar the Speal Pull-Up Bar, and the X-43M Multi-Grip Crossmember among others. Naturally the barbell version of the Rogue Curl Bar is also a logical addition to the arsenal if you don’t already own it.

Need horizontal mounting capability.
The bar only works with in the vertical position, this is actually harder on the hands, wrists and elbows. I'd inquired with Rogue and added a suggestion on their webpage that they put two hole on the brackets- one for vertical mounting, and one set 90 degrees off for horizontal, but so far I haven't seen this offered. I was able to drill a hole with a common hand drill at the 90 degree position on both brackets without too much trouble, and it works great. There are videos about how to drill holes in metal on youtube that helped. Anyway, it's a great bar once you get the angle you need.

Knurling is weak.
Better chin up bar than a pull up bar. The Rouge straight bar has much better knurling. Added non slip stairway tape for better grip.

Great for wide grip chin ups
Nice cerakote and knurling. Very comfortable feeling on my hands. A true quility piece to add to my rack. It is just as I wanted. Similar to the bar used for pulldowns. The placement of this bar is subjective. When I first got it, I mounted to the rack horizontal and vertical. I went with vertical because it is easier on my wrists with behind the neck wide grip and close grip pullups. Also got the fat bar for the middle, for variation. Love it.

Modified socket hole
Like others have noticed, the bar as originally designed does not mount in a way that takes the strain off the shoulders. I had a friend that works in a machine shop make a new hole in each Mounting Socket so the bar can be mounted in a way that takes the stress off the shoulders. I could have likely drilled a new hole with my drill press, but having a machinist do it with a mill made for a much cleaner and precise hole. If you chose to go with this idea, make sure center of the new hole is drilled the same distance from the end as the existing hole, or the bar will not line up with the socket screw. Not too big of a deal, as more Mounting Sockets can be ordered separately. I now have the option of using this pull-up bar as designed, or modified as seen in the pictures posted.

Underwhelmed
Ergonomics are confusing. The bar (not the mounting bracket) would work much better horizontally. Unless you mount the bracket horizontally, this isn't possible. Prior posts have touched on this. Mine's collecting dust in the corner.

Pull up game
LOLz. My pull-ups significantly increase from day one, It went from 0 to 1. Few weeks later I can do 5 to 7 no issues. Great fit fort chin-up... The grip does not let lots of callus, and provide a great support on my wrist. This idem is a must in any indoor/ outdoor gym.

Beautiful workmanship
The only thing preventing me from giving this 5 stars is because the angle of the bar is either completely vertical or horizontal depending on how you attach it to your rack. I installed vertically as shown in the picture on the Rogue site. Due to the completely vertical angle of the bar, it puts a strain on my wrist. Not enough to prevent me from using it, but nonetheless, this bar would be better if you could adjust the angle a little. The Allen screw sets in a fixed location, so you cannot vary the angle of the bar at all. The bar feels good on my shoulder joints, so I favor it over the straight pull up bar despite the angle issue.
