Chris Spealler
A former college wrestler from a family of standout athletes, Chris Spealler quickly became one of CrossFit’s leading ambassadors, impressing and inspiring newcomers to the sport with his underdog spirit, unequaled work ethic, and warm personality. A competitor at the very first CrossFit Games in 2007, he would eventually collect a pair of Southwest Regional titles and three Top 10 finishes at the Games (2007, 2008, 2010), along with a “Spirit of the Games” award in 2010.
One of Speal’s most inspiring achievements came in 2014, when—at age 35 and against tougher competition than ever before—he returned to finish 2nd at Regionals and punch his ticket to the Games for a seventh time. He was the only performer from the ’07 Games who was also in the 2014 field. Three years later, at the ‘17 Games, Chris reached the podium in the Masters 35-39 division, showcasing the skills that have made him a true legend of the sport.
Though he’s now retired from competition, Spealler continues to train and coach at CrossFit Park City in Utah, where he lives with his wife Sarah and their children Roark and Myla. Chris’s active partnership with Rogue includes his own line of Signature Series products, highlighted by the SPEAL Pull-Up Bar, Spealler Speed Ropes, and official Chris Spealler 2.0 T-Shirt.
